100 years ago, Leon Theremin created one of the first electronic instruments ever invented. The theremin is unique in that it is played without touching the instrument at all.
On this week’s episode, Ray talks to thereminist Dorit Chrysler, who has performed the instrument all over the world. She’s also the co-founder of the New York Theremin Society and an advocate for this one-of-a-kind instrument.
In addition, the Meebs put together a theremin-inspired playlist, emphasizing theremin-centric tunes, as well as electronic tunes heavily influenced by the legacy of the theremin.
And lastly, in this week’s installment of The Amoeba People Audio Cartoon, the Meebs travel to Nepal with legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog in order to hunt down the elusive “Oracle of the Theremin”.
So come celebrate 100 years of the theremin with The Amoeba People Radio Hour!
